Privacy policy
Last updated 18 October 2026
In one line: your financial and statement files never leave your browser. They are never uploaded to us. The only thing that may travel over the network for a paid unlock is the license key string you paste — not your CSVs, PDFs, or any numbers from your books.
Your files stay on your device
Statements, ledger exports, and every number derived from them — including the difference report you generate — are read and processed by JavaScript running in your browser tab. They live in a browser-local database on your own machine and are not transmitted to us or to anyone else. Closing the tab does not send a copy somewhere; nothing has left your computer.
That is why Statemint does not connect to Xero, QuickBooks, or any other ledger API, and why the app can keep working with no internet connection once the page is loaded.
License keys (not your books)
Your column mappings and, once purchased, a record that you unlocked the app are stored in your browser's local storage on your own device so you don't have to re-map the same export twice. You can clear them at any time by clearing site data for this origin.
To unlock a paid license, the license key string you paste may be checked with our payment provider (Creem) so we can confirm it is valid and help if activation fails. That request sends only the key — never your statements, CSVs, PDFs, or figures from your books. A short activation note (for example a key fingerprint, truncated key, timestamp, and provider status) may be kept on our infrastructure for support; it never includes statement files.
Payments
Purchases are handled by our payment provider. We never see or store card numbers, and there is no recurring charge to cancel. We do not retain your payment details.
Anonymous site visit counts
Separately from the app, we keep a simple, anonymous count of how many people open pages on this website (for example the homepage) so we know the product is useful. There are no advertising cookies, no cross-site profiling, and no ads. This has nothing to do with the files you drop into the app — those never leave your browser.
Contact
Questions about this policy, or anything else, are welcome at [email protected]. Because we do not hold your financial files, most questions can be answered in one email, and a request to remove statement data is usually unnecessary — there is nothing of that kind to remove.
Changes
If this policy ever changes in a way that would weaken a promise made here, we will say so plainly on this page and note the date at the top rather than burying it in a footer link.
